The History of Classic Rock Bands

When you think of where rock and roll got its start you most often think of artists like Elvis Presley, Little Richard, and Chuck Berry. Their voices, lyrics, and wild movements brought them off the stage and into your homes through the radio and eventually through television. But what made the top bands of that era so important is that it shaped the history of music bringing with it something entirely new. And although there are many great bands today that have brought a bit of newness to music, no others can do as the first few pioneers of rock managed to do.

But what makes rock stand out of course is how it is shaped by the sounds of the guitar. From hard rock to Classic rock bands you can see that the guitars play a huge roll in how the sound is shaped as well as how the audience perceives it. What’s more, whether it is an acoustic or an eclectic the guitar is the main icon of rock. But when exactly did that happen?

If you look back through time and history you will see that rock and roll got started around the 1950´s with the release of ¨Rocket 88¨. From then on each artist from Ray Charles to Elvis began writing in a piece at a time the history books of rock and roll. And with such songs like ¨Rock Around the Clock¨ and ¨Love Me Tender¨ you can see how these artists not only wrote the book but melted the hearts of people all over the world.

However, as with anything in time the bar must be moved and raised in order for it to continue to grow. With that said, you can see that the dance music of the 1950´s had to move over for the more radical sounds and songs of the 1960´s. And while Elvis was still a main hitter you saw the likes of the Beach Boys, Frank Zappa, and Bob Dylan appear on the scenes to write their own long sections in the history of rock. But where Elvis revolutionized rock in the 1950´s it would be the Beatles that took that title in the 1960´s.

With that said, if you were to look for the main artists of the 1970´s that took the torch then it would have to be the likes of Van Halen, Jimi Hendrix, and Janis Joplin. These people helped shape a whole culture that can still be seen today. But what came next for an addition to the history of rock was called the hair bands. And while many of these artists have since cut their hair and continued on like Metallica, you will find that the battle of the hair bands was not long in fighting.

However, you also found another prince in rock come in and make waves during this era. Michael Jackson brought a whole new look and feel to the stage, and up until the later years of 2009 he was still in circulation and making music. Add to this list Billy Joel and Journey and you can get a good idea of the mixture of talents from these Classic rock bands.

But where the hair bands of the 80´s brought you both men and women you will find that the history of rock for the 1990´s would be made by the boy bands of that era. This is where you saw Boyz II Men and the Backstreet Boys. But you also saw such greats as Kurt Cobain and Madonna rising up higher than ever and selling their cd like mad.
